Smears spread on YouTube
Disgraced, right-wing misogynist Jimmy Dore recently hosted The Grayzone’s Aaron Mate on his YouTube show, and revived a months-long smear campaign against myself, The Young Turks, and others who criticize them.
Promoting frequent Fox News guest Glenn Greenwald’s video, Dore falsely said that “The Young Turks fabricated a false #MeToo smear against me,” claiming that “TYT smeared Aaron Mate,” and “Julian Assange.”
“So now Cenk just thanked Matt Dimitri for a video that is selectively edited, and that’s what this guy Matt Dimitri did,” Dore said. “He’s the one who did a doctored video of Aaron Mate to make it look like he’s saying Assad was his hero. But they doctored the video and TYT tweeted it out… The guy who put that video together was Matt Dimitri and that’s the guy Cenk is thanking.”
The video Cenk Uygur credits to me was actually produced by another person — it was not selectively edited. The video that I clipped of Mate calling Assad a hero also not deceptively edited.
“They’ve never apologized for that video,” Dore said. “Ana was confronted that she tweeted out a doctored video to smear an award-winning Journalist, and she didn’t take responsibility for it.”
Mate then viciously lied, claiming, “Matt Dimitri is not actually a guy. It’s a troll account… we have no idea who this person actually is — “
“Right, it’s not a person,” Dore lied.
“And It might even be multiple people,” Mate lied. “They spend a lot of time policing YouTube, to take clips of authentic leftists and try to put them out to — “
“And try to deceptively edit them,” Dore claimed.
In June, The Grayzone’s Founder Max Blumenthal spread a baseless conspiracy theory about me, on Dore’s show: “It’s an operation, if you’re an anti-imperialist and you’re on the left disrupting the official narrative about these very sensitive issues of war and peace… this guy is gonna come for you.”
In May, Greenwald falsely declared on alleged pedophile Richard Medhurst’s YouTube show that I’m a DNC operative, after multiple videos I posted to Twitter — exposing his transphobia and shift to the far-right — went viral.
Yes, while lecturing TYT for baselessly charging Mate with being paid by Russia. They should not have done that, but the hypocrisy from Greenwald here is the takeaway.
This sustained disinformation campaign of attrition, orchestrated by pro-Russia right-wing commentators who run in “Dore-Anon” circles, has trickled into smaller, left-wing spaces on Twitter and YouTube. Some tacitly endorsing it while hiding behind memes.
“New CIA operative just dropped,” tweeted an account called “aizawa,” which was retweeted by the account ‘Irrational Chad,’ followed by 3,865 people.
